Alzheimer's Association Washington State Chapter
Formed in 1980, the Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The Washington State Chapter is one of over 70 Alzheimer's Association chapters serving communities across the United States.
MISSION: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide care and support for all those affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
Volunteer to make a difference.
The Alzheimer’s Association counts on volunteers nationwide to support our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. Through the efforts of talented, caring volunteers, we are able to deliver programs, fund research and support people affected by Alzheimer’s.
You can contribute to all aspects of our work as a volunteer including:
Office Help and Event Prep: With 16 Walks to End Alzheimer’s, 5 Reason to Hope Breakfasts and on going programs throughout Washington State we can always use a hand in our office. Join us in our sunny Queen Anne office and assist with assembly projects, mailings and event preparation.
Early Stage Memory Loss Social Walk Volunteer: Our Early Stage Memory Loss(ESML) programs help connect people with memory loss to a community who understands the journey that they're going through, so they feel like they are not alone. Our Social Walks are weekly social engagement and fitness opportunities for people living with ESML. The programs provide a chance for physical activity, cognitive stimulation, and social connection outdoors.
Support Group Facilitator: Our Support Groups provide an invaluable network that caregivers for people with Dementia and Alzheimer’s can turn to for advice and encouragement. We recognize that caregiving is impossible alone and our support group facilitators create a place for that important interaction by encouraging conversation and maintaining a positive and caring environment.
Marketing & Communications Volunteer: Our Chapter is seeking an experienced, talented communications volunteer to assist with media calendars, campaigns and outreach. You will partner with our Communications Team and be responsible for assisting in the creation of marketing strategies and their implementation to help increase awareness about the Alzheimer’s Association.
