SAM’s main hall was sticky with drinks by the end of the night, I’ve never seen so much debauchery at an art gallery! Okay, that’s a lie. I had a blast, listening to live grunge, getting an “artistic license”, and dancing the night away.
I went through the Elles exhibit and of course, enjoyed a highly opinionated tour. So many great works! My favorite are tucked in the back, don’t forget to look at the Guerrilla Girls posters in the back. The posters are part of a collection of statements by an anonymous group of feminist that make it clear that women belong in a museum and fight sexism worldwide. They declare “When racism and sexism are no longer fashionable, what will your art collection be worth?” This show is about women and here is a clear example of why the museum world needs this exhibit. I wish that it wasn’t only Seattle that got to see it so make sure that you go and tell all your friends!
Join us for another Remix in the coming year! You’ll see a new exhibit, drink, dance, and participate.
