The first time I got on a Seattle bus was an adventure, I had nowhere to be so being lost was not a problem. I hopped on and off, finally walking towards what I thought was Capitol Hill. It turned out to be the wrong street, and after what felt like hours of uphill walking, I came upon the Frye Art Museum. Did you know that it’s free admission?! It was a relief to walk in and find myself surrounded with beautiful paintings. It was a sublime moment of realization, I was in a new place without expectations or resolutions and the serenity of each painting was all that mattered.
Perhaps, you’ve never stepped into an art museum, art gallery, or when you have — art is merely a thing that people do. In the last year that I’ve been in Seattle, I have ventured out to more and more art spaces. I would like to share my adventures and invite you along. Art can be anything, there is beautiful, weird, epic, and “not-art” that is art. You can go alone or we can go together. It can be a date-night, after-work, or just curiosity. Whatever art is, Seattle is making plenty of it.
I am so lucky to have the opportunity to share with you all, my art discoveries around Seattle. Please join for me for gallery openings, tours, and artistic delights. My goal is to tell you about local artists, projects, and spaces. I would love any recommendation or invitation to see and experience what the Seattle art scene is about.
