Four Things to Enjoy This Weekend in Seattle

TGIF. It may seem like the weekend is hours away, but it’ll be here before you know it, and you don’t want to spend the WHOLE weekend watching the Winter Olympics, do you? Skeleton is a wild ride to watch, but why not get your thrills out and about in our beautiful city as well?

Twin Peaks Chess Night at Arabica Lounge:

Retreat to the land of damn fine coffee and cherry pie at Arabica Lounge (1550 East Olive Way). There will be cherry pie, friendly games of Chess and Twin Peaks playing on the TV. Tonight from 7pm to 11pm.

SAM Remix:

Have you ever been to a SAM remix? Each one is unique—and goes far beyond static art pieces. Expect performances, workshops, live music and lots of surprises. Although advance tickets are sold out, you can get day-of tickets at the SAM box office starting at 8pm. Tonight from 8pm to midnight.

The Legacy of Seattle Hip Hop at MOHAI:

Sir Mix-a-Lot and Macklemore aren’t the only rappers to come out of Seattle. Join MOHAI tomorrow, Saturday, 2/22 from 1pm to 5pm as they explore the rich history of hip hop in the Emerald City. Expect live hip hop and break dance performances, a community panel discussion and a screening of 50 Next: Seattle Hip Hop WorldWide. Tomorrow from 1pm to 5pm.

Fremont Sunday Market and the World’s Most Expensive Hot Dog:

This Sunday, 2/23, there’s something extra special going on at the Fremont Sunday Market. The food cart Tokyo Dog will be slinging the World’s Most Expensive Hot Dog, tentatively named the Junni Dog (a subtle nod to the Seahawks, as it means 12 in Japanese). It’ll be a $169 dog with butter teriyaki grilled onions; maitake mushrooms and shaved black truffles, among other high-end ingredients. Email to pre-order this pricey dog. If you’d rather just enjoy the delicious smells, swing by the Tokyo Dog car between 11am and 4pm. Sunday, 2/23 from 11am to 4pm.
