So you know when the holidays are coming waaaay quicker than you expected and there’s still presents to be bought, cards to be mailed, groceries to grab, a house to pick up, cookies to bake, plus your everyday activities like working and sleeping. And then you get hit with the stomach flu. Yea, that’s what my week’s been like.
I really wanted to reach out to all my TWIF readers this week but because staring at this screen makes me a little queasy I’m going to make this post short and sweet.
Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who came and acted as Santa’s helpers by sorting toys for good little girls and boys! Childhaven was excited to have such warm and friendly volunteers and everyone had a great time for a wonderful cause
Secondly, a big thank you to everyone who came and lent a skillful hand at our Bicycle Maintenance event last week. With the free pizza and bicycle joyriding, it was almost too fun to be a volunteer gig. Almost. Can’t wait to see who turns up to January’s event!
Thirdly, have you checked out the events page on our website lately? We’re fancy now. You can see exactly what opportunities we’ve got coming up AND how many slots we have available. That means you’ll know when you’re running out of time to sign up for that Kitchen Social event you had your eye on. And also how many of your friends you should gather up in order to all pitch in and have fun together! So go check it out, I was impressed.
Lastly, I made it out to the Garden d’Lights this weekend. And while it was totally awesome and well worth my 5$ entry fee, parking was a massive nightmare. And truthfully, massive nightmare is putting it mildly. So if you decide to go (and I truly think it’s worth it) I’d avoid the parking lots at all costs and plan on parking in the residential area and walking a little farther. Reward yourself for the extra 5 minute trek with a delicious hot cocoa once you get inside. And then go ooh and ahh over the half million lights they have strung over the garden.
And as I sit here slightly nauseated and timidly snacking on my 3rd saltine cracker of the day, I leave you with this little nugget of humor…
