Mark Your Calendars: TWIF Events This April

You know what they say—April showers bring May flowers. In Seattle sometimes though, April showers simply bring May showers. Either way, TWIF has brewed up some tasty events for you and your friends this month.

Treehouse Wearhouse: Saturday, 4/12, 10:00am to 2:00pm

This event is already full! Get on the wait list here.

Sort through clothes, school supplies, toys and books to help get the best of the best to foster children in need. All items will go to the Wearhouse, a place where foster kids can shop for free. As a volunteer, you’ll help sort, tag and restock merchandise. More than 2000 foster kids shop at the Wearhouse each year. There are always a few weird/wacky clothing items to see, so don’t miss this fun opportunity to make a difference AND put your fashion sense to work.

TWIF Intro Hour: Thursday, 4/17, 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Been to several TWIF events already and want to get even more involved? Completely new to TWIF and want to get to know us? TWIF Intro Hour is for you, my friend. Come hang with us at the Ninkasi Better Living Room, enjoy a cold beverage and hear about how you can lend your skills to TWIF. Learn about becoming an event lead, staff or board member. We’ll have members of each group on hand to answer questions in a laid-back environment. See you there!

Hop Scotch Beer & Scotch Festival: Saturday, 4/19, 2:00pm to 6:00pm

This event is already full! Get on the wait list here.

This event was a hit last year (I know, because I was there). During your shift, you’ll be kept busy pouring spirits for the Hop Scotch attendees. After your shift, you’ll be rewarded with 7 drink tokens, a commemorative tasting glass, a volunteer t-shirt and a chance to mingle throughout the spacious tasting rooms of Fremont Studios.  You don’t have to be Ron Burgandy to enjoy this event—there’s tasty food, as well as beer and wine in addition to Scotch.

TWIF BQ: Thursday, 4/24, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Whether you’re a seasoned TWIF staffer or someone who’s new to our volunteer events, we’d like to show you how much we care! The World Is Fun would not be where it is today without its volunteers. Come celebrate with us at TWIF Headquarters as we fire up the grill and enjoy a few cold ones (Ninkasi cold ones, that is). This is a free event with a suggested donation of $10 for food and beverages. See you there!

Get Dirty at Marra Farm: Saturday, 4/26, 10:00am to 2:00pm

Join TWIF and other green-thumbed individuals as we dig in the dirt for a good cause. Help tend and maintain the delicious fruits and veggies of Marra Farm—since it’s finally spring the sun may actually be out as well!

Marra Farm is an urban community farm that promotes sustainable organic gardening and enhances local food security. The farm helps to provide to various local feeding programs such as the Providence Regina House Food Bank, Mien Senior Citizens and Concord Elementary School students and their families.

In an age where childhood obesity is skyrocketing, programs like Marra Farm are critical.  Come see what it’s all about with TWIF.
