8 Things You Shouldn't Miss This Spring

As we continue to enjoy the warmer weather and sunnier days, it is important to not miss out on some of Seattle’s best spring events. 

Since this is my first spring in Seattle, I was really excited to find out what this city has to offer, and I have picked out a few events that look like fun!

Seattle Restaurant Week

To start off, I am going to bring up something very close to my heart: foodSeattle Restaurant Week kicks off this month from April 13-17th and you do not want to miss out.   For a limited time only, some of Seattle’s best restaurants will be offering a 3-course meal for only $28 bucks! So, take advantage of this event and go out to that restaurant you’ve always had your eye on…check out the full list of participating restaurants in the link above.


Ballard Jazz Festival

Next up is the prestigious Ballard Jazz Festival, which is being held from April 16-19th.   Take a peak at some of the amazing shows being hosted during this 3-day event. One of the most well known events from the festival is the Ballard Jazz Walk on April 18th, which includes multiple shows scattered throughout participating venues on Ballard Ave.  There is nothing like listening to live jazz being peformed by some of this genre’s greatest talents, so go check it out!


Hopscotch Spring Beer and Scotch Festival

The Hopscotch Spring Beer and Scotch Festival hails out of Fremont every year, drawing lovers of beer, scotch, wine, and whiskey for a weekend full of local talent and amazing taste samples.  This year will be no different so, from April 18-19th hitch a ride over to Fremont, you won’t be disappointed!




Seattle Poetry Slam

Have you ever felt like you were a poet or that you were a genius with words? Well, now’s your chance to shine! Join in Seattle’s very own Poetry Slam on April 19th and you could get the chance to compete in the National Poetry Slam this August.  If you’re not interested in participating, stop by to enjoy the local talent and a special performance by the up and coming poet Stephen Meads.


Arcade Lights

One of the first things that most people do when they come to Seattle is go and explore the infamous Pike Place Market and on April 25th this local trademark will be hosting over 60 local artisan food and drink purveyors.  Arcade Lights is a night full of good food and good drink.  Purchasing a ticket provides you with 10 tokens, which can be used on anything from local homebrews to a variety of other delicious treats.

To continue along the general theme here, the Mobile Food Rodeo from May 3-4th will bring out the foodie in anyone.   This event will include 45 of the top food trucks in Seattle, 3 beer gardens, a taco truck challenge, and a lot more.  If attending this event isn’t enough for you--why not participate! Join other TWIF volunteers and find a time slot that fits your schedule--you won’t regret it! Not only will you feel good about helping out at an amazing event, but at the end of your shift, you will receive VIP passes and a free t-shirt as a thank you for all your hard work! Seattle International Film Festival

Are you a film junkie? Then check out this year’s Seattle Film Festival from May 15- June 8th and experience one of the most highly acclaimed film festivals in North America.  The lineup won’t be available to the public until May 1st, but you can assume there will be some pretty spectacular talent on the screen.  If this event is right up your alley, then maybe you want to splurge and buy a ticket for opening night!

Now I know this isn’t news to most of you, but Sasquatch!  is quickly approaching this year.  The 3-day music festival is being held from May 23-25th this year and the lineup is not too shabby. Not many tickets are left but, if one of your life goals included seeing Outkast perform live…then this may be the event for you!
