The farmer and the cowman should be friends—at least according to the magical 1955 Rodgers and Hammerstein movie musical OKLAHOMA! We here at TWIF also think the Urban Cowperson and food trucks should be friends. And we’re backing up that philosophy this weekend in Fremont and the International District.
You heard that right—there’s two—count ‘em two—great Seattle neighborhoods that will host some of the Emerald City’s most beloved food trucks. Expect the likes of Trophy Cupcakes, Hallava Falafel, Tokyo Dog, Barking Frog Mobile Kitchen, Ben and Jerry’s and much much more.
And you can get in on the action by volunteering with TWIF. As a Truck Wrangler, you’ll be tending to the event’s VIFs (Very Important Foodies) by herding them to the correct line by the right food truck with their order in hand.
And I would be amiss if I failed to mention the perks; all proceeds will benefit TWIF’s programs, AND (if that’s not enough), you’ll get a shot at being a Very Important Foodie yourself. All volunteers get a VIF Pass after completing their shift (that’s a retail value of 20 smackers) and an official event t-shirt.
And remember that much much more I talked about earlier? The Mobile Food Rodeo can help you celebrate Cinco de Mayo a little bit early at the Viva Tacos showdown from 5:00pm to 11:00pm on Saturday in the ID and from 11:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday in Fremont. There will be 25 Seattle taco trucks competing for your vote as well as live mariachi and lucador wrestling by Lucha Libre Volcanica.
