Did you know that most children, when asked, fancy themselves an artist? …a sense of creativity and confidence that most adults long for. Well how about a child curator? These folk are a far rarer breed, which is why the Bherd Studios in Greenwood is gearing up for its latest show, “Monsters & Aliens,” which has been almost entirely curated by 7-year old Zinn Bellevie. Zinn, who has struggled with Asperger’s syndrome, has been an avid art lover for over two years, and “Monsters & Aliens,” which begins April 8, is Zinn’s big break to show the world some eclectic interpretations from a selection of hand-picked local artists.
In the spirit of monsters, aliens, and all things of whimsical shape and form, Seattle Art Museum is in the midst of Nick Cave’s “Meet Me at the Center of the Earth” exhibit. At the fabulous SAM Remix party, between heckling passers-by about the delightful virtue of TWIF and sipping cocktails, we got to experience a little preview of how Cave has re-envisioned and redefined the meaning of the “suit” in the 21st century. The show runs through June 5 and it’s a can’t-miss. And let’s not forget about one of the best times of the month to be a Seattleite – April 7 is the first Thursday of the month, which means…First Thursday! Officially, the first art walk in the US, Pioneer Square art galleries and shops show off their new exhibits and artists between the hours of noon and 8pm.
