Happy TWIFiversary: Three Upcoming TWIF Events You Shouldn’t Miss

I couldn’t even wait for the usual Mark Your Calendars post—these events are that cool. But first, I would be amiss if I failed to say Happy Birthday TWIF! That’s right; TWIF turned five on August 18th! But unlike a typical five year old, we’re going to celebrate with beer, facial hair and general awesomeness. Read on for some more cool ways to keep the summer fun going with TWIF:

Raise a Pint for TWIF at Reuben’s Brews: Thursday, 8/28

Reuben’s Brews is a family-owned brewery and taproom with a constantly rotating selection of IPAs, porters, ryes and ales. Reuben’s and TWIF are teaming up on Thursday, 8/28 to bring you tasty beers for a great cause—TWIF! From 3:00pm to 9:00 pm, $1 from every pint will go to helping fund TWIF’s charitable programs. Cheers!

Celebrate Dand’s Day at Golden Gardens: Saturday, 9/6

Picture Golden Gardens at sunset in late summer—there are tasty treats on the grill, beverages on ice and acoustic guitar stylings wafting through the balmy evening air. Sounds just about perfect, doesn’t it? Well, it could be perfect-er! And TWIF is making it so—join us for TWIF’s Fifth Birthday Celebration/Dand’s Day.

There will be live acoustic music from the likes of The Local Strangers, Jeff Greer and Seatown Sound. There will be delicious grub, BINGO TWIF style, a bonfire and a Beard and mustache competition. That’s right, TWIF is returning to its follicles and hosting a regal facial hair match. The winner will walk away with honor and glory.

Play Bubble Fütbol at Cal Anderson Park: Sunday, 9/7

The Seattle Sounders have a fierce following in Seattle, but this type of “fütbol” is unlike anything the Emerald City has ever witnessed. The World Is Fun is hosting an eight-team extravaganza in competition for the coveted Golden Bubble. Not familiar with Bubble Fütbol? It’s just like regular soccer football, expect that the players are encased in huge plastic bubbles and are encouraged to bump into one another while vying for possession of the ball. Check out this video to get a better idea of what’s it’s like:

Sign up now to be part of the first Bubble Fütbol tournament in Seattle! Proceeds go to fund TWIF’s programs. If you’re interested in sponsoring an entire team, find out more here.

Maggie Tarnawa is a blogger for The World Is Fun and will be celebrating Dand’s Day in style on September 6th.
