Things I am Excited About: Long Shot

It’s time for you to save the date – and when I mean the date, I mean the entire 24 hours surrounding it. June 17-18th Photo Center NW is hosting LONG SHOT and I, for one, am really looking forward to it.

LONG SHOT is a 24 hour photo marathon to raise funds for the Photo Center NW’s education and outreach programs. Every year hundreds of photographers participate around the world, for 24 hours, with any camera and level of experience.

Think of it like running a marathon for a cause, although short shorts are not required (but hey – why not?). You sign up, raise a minimum of $24 in pledges (or you an pledge $24 yourself – which is $1 per hour of fun). Its a great cause so feel free to dog deep and get your friends, family and co-workers involved.

Here’s where the fun comes in…. from June 17th, 6PM through June 18th, 6PM you have 24 solid hours to shoot your heart out. This is where you should get really creative! Personally, my plan is to think of every awesome thing I can pack into 24 hours and do them all in on one day snapping shots along the way. The moral of the story is you can shoot anything you want, in any way you want. You can use your iPhone, your DSLR or your view camera.. your choice! you can make a pin-hole out of a Chipotle burrito or use your point-and-shoot circa 1999. You can shoot for 5 minutes, a whole hour or the whole day! I love choose your own adventure opportunities and this one is going to be epic.

When all is said and done, everyone will submit ten of their best images and the folks at Photo Center NW will select one to go on
the July 23rd LONG SHOT exhibition! You send them the framed print and it goes up on the wall – just like that, you’re a star.
During the July 23rd exhibition/ huge celebration all of the proceeds from the gallery sales go to the LONG SHOT fundraising efforts and in the end, you have a 24 hour marathon of memories and have done something awesome for a great organization.

So, who’s in with me?
