As I sit here at home all cozy and in my sweats, it’s clear to me that I have a lot to be thankful for.
In fact, I made a list.
#1. It’s a Tuesday morning and I’m in my sweatpants. Hooray for random days off!
#2. I’m in my sweatpants at home and I’m not out battling traffic in the rain. King 5 is telling me that the rain is making commutes horrible this morning. If you were out on the roads this morning then I’m also thankful that you survived it and are therefore able to read this post.
#3. It’s pie week. Starting Thursday there will be an endless amount of pie being lifted from plate to mouth. To be honest the rest of our Thanksgiving meal is lost on me. All I can think is pumpkin, pecan, chocolate, apple, blackberry…While on this topic I feel it necessary to say that I’m thankful for today’s sweatpants, because they’re the only thing I’ll be able to pile myself into after consuming said pies.
#4. Christmas is around the corner! And with that comes amazing Christmas events, like visiting the reindeer at Swansons Nursery Reindeer Festival the Macy’s Holiday Parade downtown and the 23rd annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. By the way, TWIF volunteers get a front and center view of this amazing event as they help cute little bundled up kiddos on and off the carousel! If you want to join the fun there’s still a spot or two left. Click here for more info.
#5. And finally, I’m thankful for TWIF. I stumbled upon this amazing organization just a few months ago and am continually awed by the drive and heart of each of its staff members and volunteers. Whether we’re cooking up a storm to feed people in need, singing and sorting clothes for Treehouse, or constructing gooey gingerbread houses with lovable kiddos at the YWCA, TWIFfers always strike a perfect balance between fun and functional. And so I’m also thankful for all the fun and philanthropic people like you, because our community is a better place for it.
I hope you all have a terrific turkey day :) Check back soon for the fabulous TWIF newsletter to read about all of the fun things we have planned for December and a peak into what to expect for 2012!
