It was bound to happen eventually—summer drawing to a close that is. We’ve had our first real Seattle downpour and the kids are back to school, the leaves are changing color and pumpkin spice is finding its way into our lattés. How fun! Check out what TWIF has in store this month of the Autumn Equinox.
Dand’s Day: Saturday, 9/6, 4:00pm – 10:00pm
TWIF is turning 5, and we’re celebrating our wonderful volunteers and supporters with a birthday BBQ and live music at Golden Gardens Park. There will also be delicious food, BINGO, a bonfire and a beard and mustache competition!
We have a lot to toast to! In the past five years, TWIF has worked with over 70 local nonprofits, engaged over 3,000 Seattleites in volunteering and gave over half a million dollars in service to the Seattle Community. Let’s cheers to the next five years!
TWIF Bubble Fütbol Tournament: Sunday, 9/7, 6:30pm – 10:30pm
Come join TWIF for the first ever Bubble Fütbol tournament in Seattle! Bubble Fütbol is a unique game in which each player is encased in a huge plastic orb and encouraged to bounce into other players—hence the name. As far as we know, Bubble Fütbol has never been played in the Emerald City, and TWIF is bringing the awesomeness to Cal Anderson park on Sunday, September 7th.
Teams consist of a minimum of seven players. The tournament will host eight teams competing for the Golden Bubble. This event is a great opportunity to have fun and support The World is Fun’s programs. In the past five years, The World is Fun has worked with over 70 local nonprofits, engaged over 3000 Seattleites in volunteering and gave over half a million dollars in service to the Seattle community.

Hello, My Name Is TWIF: Tuesday, 9/9, 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Are you unfamiliar with TWIF? Think you might want to volunteer or become a member but aren’t sure what it’s really like? Then this event is for you!
Come mingle with other TWIF volunteers and staff, enjoy a cold Ninkasi beer and learn about what TWIF’s different teams do.
A note about the location: Our office is located at 7551 B 15th Avenue NW in Ballard. The office is tucked on the side of 7551 A (a hair salon). It is not super visible from the street but you will see our logo on the door and a large letter "B". There is usually plenty of street parking right in front and the Rapid Ride D line runs along our street.
Please register for this event so we know how many people to expect. Feel free to bring friends!
Treehouse Wearhouse: Saturday 9/13, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Treehouse Wearhouse is one of TWIF’s most popular events and helps serve Treehouse’s mission, which is helping give foster kids the tools they need to succeed.
Volunteers in the Wearhouse help sort donations, tag and restock merchandise and work on readying the store for shopping days. The Wearhouse is run by 2.5 paid staff, so volunteer power is essential to the success of the organization.
TWIF Brunch Club: Sunday, 9/14, Noon
TWIF Brunch Club is a lot of fun. It’s a casual way for TWIF Staff and Members to enjoy good food and good company in a relaxed environment. Brunch Club is held on the second Sunday of each month and is at a different delicious restaurant each time.
In September the tasty grub will be consumed at Hilliard’s Brewery, located at 1550 NW 49th Street in Ballard. Register now to reserve your spot—it lets us know how many people to expect.
Kindly note that this event is reserved for TWIF Members, TWIF Staff and their guests. Our reservation will be made for 12:00 noon. Please arrive a few minutes early in case the establishment requires all members of our party to be present to be seated.
Fremont Oktoberfest: Saturday, 9/20, 2:30pm – 7:00pm
You may have enjoyed beer before, but have you ever poured it for an enthusiastic Oktoberfest crowd? The World Is Fun invites you to come pour beer in Fremont, “The Center of the Universe.”
There will be over 80 microbrews and German beers for festival attendees to enjoy, and after your shift you’ll get 7 tasting tokens, a commemorative t-shirt and admission to the event!
Did you know that Fremont Oktoberfest has been voted by USA Today and Orbitz.com as one of the top ten places to toast Oktoberfest in the world? In addition to the top-shelf beers, there are other hidden gems scattered throughout the festival to entertain you. There’s the Miss Buxom contest, Dogtoberfest and the Texas Chainsaw Pumpkin Carving contest.
So slip on your dirndl or lederhosen and come join the fun in Fremont! You’ll be glad you did.
