This Week in Fun - July 10-16

We hope you had a great start to your July last week, and this week we’re back with even more events to get you out and enjoying this beautiful summer.

Highlights of the week? 'Tis the season for festivals! And there are several you don’t want to miss. Our favorites include Kirkland Uncorked Wine Festival, Timber Outdoor Music Festival and Dragon Fest - and those aren’t the only festivals and events worth going to.

Check out what we’ve got for this week!

  • Sodo Flea Market: Looking for that perfect vintage treasure? Well, you just might find it here! (7/10)
  • Fun Home Theater: Enjoy this well-regarded Broadway musical about family, acceptance and growing up down at 5th Avenue Theater.  (7/11-7/30)
  • Seattle Storm vs. Connecticut Sun: Here in Seattle we know a little too well that the storm often beats out the sun. So, let’s prove that to Connecticut as we support our players in this game! (7/12)
  • Persuasion at the Taproot Theater: Jane Austen and other literature fans will certainly enjoy this rendition of her work on the stage! (7/12-8/19)
  • Timber! Outdoor Music Festival: Love music? Love the outdoors? Then the Timber! Outdoor Music Festival’s combination of great artists and options for exploring the park it takes place in (kayaking, paddle boarding, or recreational tree climbing, anyone?) will be sure to satisfy. (7/13-7/15)
  • Kirkland Uncorked Wine Festival: It’s here! Grab your glasses wine enthusiasts and head on over to Kirkland for Washington’s summer wine festival to enjoy all the finest wines Washington’s wineries have to offer. (7/14-7/16)
  • Sandstations Sandcastle Competition: Reflect on your own sandcastles building days and see the people who got really, really good at it when you head over to this competition. Sure, it may be a bit of a drive, but it’s worth it for a nice beach day! (7/15)
  • Campout Cinema – The Hunger: David Bowie? Vampires? An outdoor camping experience at the MoPop? If any of that sounds interesting to you, then you’ll definitely want to check out this Campout Cinema night. Bring your own pillows, blankets, or sleeping bags, enjoy drinks ahead of time and be prepared for an awesome experience. (7/15)
  • Street Food Festival: 4 blocks worth of food trucks, restaurants, food booths and more is the draw of this event. You (and your taste buds) won’t want to miss it. (7/15-7/16)
  • Dragon Fest: Here you’ll get to see a number of cultural performances for a pan-Asian celebration. From traditional Korean drumming to bhanga/Bollywood performances and a $3 food walk, this Festival promises to be a great one. (7/15-7/16)
  • Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival: 2 days, one park, 16 performances, and all of it… free! Come down to Volunteer Park and catch a performance of your choice. You’re sure to be in for a good time. (7/15-7/16)
