Other Ways to Get Involved:

Volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of those struggling with hunger. Volunteers help them provide food more efficiently and effectively to those in need. In 2012, volunteers provided nearly 30,000 hours of service at The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s.

Common Volunteer Positions:

Walk-In Program Sorters and Distributors
Volunteers inspect and organize food donations, distribute the food to customers, and perform other tasks as needed. Volunteers must be able to work with a diverse population and should be comfortable in a loud, fast-paced, and sometimes crowded environments. .

Home Delivery Drivers
Their Home Delivery Program runs on Wednesdays. They deliver to people who are homebound and unable to visit our food bank due to age, illness, or disability.

Warehouse Helpers
Warehouse helpers help with various projects, such as cleaning, food sorting, and other projects. 

7am Pick Up Drivers
7am Pick Up Drivers help them rescue groceries. This position involves picking up donations from a few locations in Seattle and then dropping off donations at their food bank in the Central District. 

8am-11am Pick Up Drivers, subs and regular drivers
They do several pick ups throughout the day to rescue groceries from nearby stores. Training involves riding with a staff member or volunteer.
