SHERPA TRAINER

Do you consider yourself a leader and a teacher? Do you want to give back to the community while strengthening your resume? Are you ready to take your training, leadership and volunteering skills to the next level but don't know where to start? Look no further, here is your chance to be a trainer for the TWIF Sherpa program.

What's a Sherpa, you ask? Well, on the trail, the Sherpa is the first to welcome travelers, takes the lead in guiding people, and always has answers to crucial questions. Climbing a mountain may not be your thing, but volunteers--especially first-timers--often need the same support as those on an adventure.

That is why TWIF has created our Sherpa training program. This is a six-month program where you'll help develop new Sherpa’s learn the basics of volunteer management, problem-solving, working professionally with nonprofits, storytelling for a cause, and how to engage the community so people keep coming back!

And it isn't all just training, you will have an opportunity to apply what you teach at a volunteer event of your choice where you will continue to refine your leadership skills, and have the opportunity to recruit new TWIF Sherpas, staff and members. Along the way, you'll have the full support of our Volunteer Coordination team and staff. You will be certified to lead (as a Sherpa) TWIF events, get a shiny certificate for your LinkedIn, and the have the satisfaction of knowing that you are empowering others to get involved in volunteering for their community.

A Sherpa Trainer will:
Understand adult learning principles
Excel at conveying and helping other understand new ideas
Remain cool, composed and collected in high-stress environments
Exhibits tact and good judgment under pressure in sensitive situations

This position requires a commitment of 8-10 flexible hours per month, one monthly mandatory meeting on the first Tuesday of every month for one hour, and one volunteer event (of your choice) each month.

Compensation
This is a volunteer position with no financial compensation.
