Social Impact Tribe
The Collective and The World is Fun have partnered to bring you the best social impact opportunities in Seattle. These volunteer opportunities are curated to provide Collective members with opportunities to give back and be social. The World is Fun is on a mission to get Seattleites involved in giving back to their community and they do this by creating volunteer opportunities that people get excited about.
Saturday APRIL 14th -
Get Dirty at Marra Farm
Shift time: 10am to 2pm
Join other Collective members as we venture out on our first social good mission! The World is Fun has organized a day for us to get our hands dirty (literally) as we plant and prep at Marra Farm. You’ll learn about how food is grown, food security, organic farming and food justice by working at the farm. Tasks vary based on the day and season, but you may help prepare soil and garden beds, plant vegetable starts and seeds, maintain crops, weed, compost, irrigate, harvest, and/or wash produce.
Marra Farm is 4 acres of historic preserved farmland in South Seattle - the food produced on the farm is distributed to local food banks. Volunteering at the farm means that you are contributing to increased food security and healthy eating by helping grow fresh produce for, and with, families in the South Park neighborhood. Moreover, by learning about farming and food security, you are helping to create a new generation of citizens engaged in growing their own food and supporting small-scale farmers
