Girls on the Run of Puget Sound
Mission: Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in the 3rd through 5th and 6th through 8th grade participate in an after-school program like no other. Designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength, the Girls on the Run curriculum inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms. Throughout the season, the girls make new friends, build their confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique.
Ways to get involved:
They are always looking for more volunteers! They would not be able to coach upwards of 2,500 girls a season without their amazing volunteers at each site.
If you want to volunteer but can't commit to a full season of coaching, consider one of their many one-day opportunities, like their 5k where they will need 300 volunteers to support the girls as they celebrate the end of their season and the completion of a 5k.
They also provide volunteers for many local races each year, including the Mother's Day Half Marathon and the Lake Union 10k.
Another way to get involved and support GOTR is by becoming a SoleMate. SoleMates train for the athletic event of their choice while raising money for Girls on the Run of Puget Sound. SoleMates set personal goals such as participating in a triathlon or half marathon event to raise critically needed funds that ensure GOTR’s council is able to serve more girls in the greater Puget Sound area.
